*** YOU WILL NEED KEYBOARD SWITCHES - SUCH AS https://amzn.to/4rum85Q (UK) or https://amzn.to/3OaodW7 (US) ***

Overview

A print-in-place flexi clicker that blends an articulated fidget with the satisfying feel of mechanical keyboard switches. Choose anything from 1 key up to a ridiculous 52-key mega chain (purely for fun!).
Each keycap has a 0.5 mm raised legend for a crisp, tactile finish.

Printing Details

  • No supports
  • 0.4 mm nozzle
  • Layer height: 0.16 mm
  • Initial layer: 0.20 mm
  • Ironing: optional, but recommended on keycaps
  • Adhesion is critical for the keycap plate (lots of small parts). I used a Cool Plate SuperTack; PEI works too, but make sure it’s dialled in. Add a brim if you’re not 100% confident.
  • Colour change: the 3MF is set to change colour at layer 32 for readable legends
    • AMS: works as-is
    • No AMS: swap the colour-change to a Pause, then manually change filament
    • You can print single-colour, but the legends won’t pop as well

Material: PLA works great. I don’t recommend matte PLA for the base pieces as it can be a bit more brittle.

Size (per module): approx 30 mm long × 23 mm wide × 22 mm tall (with switch + keycap fitted).
A 52-key chain is about 1.56 m long (52 × ~3 cm)… yes, it’s absurd 😄

File Formats Included

  • 3MF only (plates and settings included)

Variations

You get a full keycap library:

  • A–Z
  • 0–9
  • Blank
  • Symbols/icons: # @ heart ANY dot $ ! paw print
  • 16 different smiley-style faces
  • Extras: star, moon, sun, circle, bats, 2 ghosts, flower

The keycaps live on one plate, but you don’t need to print them all:

  1. Open the 3MF
  2. Use the  “workspace” plate
  3. Clear the workspace plate, and select it, then on the keycap plate, right-click a keycap → clone, then clone as many as you need onto the workspace plate
  4. Print only your workspace plate

Assembly

  • Requires MX-style mechanical keyboard switches: 1 switch per key  (example:  https://amzn.to/4rum85Q )
  • Switches are press-fit into the base (firm by design so they stay put)
  • Keycaps press onto the switch stem (also a firm fit)
  • If you want a keychain: bring your own split ring/chain and attach to the end link point
