Single Lever Paddle Morse CW Key (S-Spring Design)
Print Profile(1)

Description
Overview
This is a clean, durable, and fully functional Single Lever Paddle (CW Key) designed for amateur radio (HAM radio) enthusiasts and STEM projects. Unlike a traditional straight key, this paddle moves side-to-side to interface with your radio's internal electronic keyer, allowing for effortless and precise Morse code transmission. The design focuses on simplicity and reliability, offering modern functionality for both field and home use.
Key Features
- Integrated Spring: Features an S-shaped (serpentine) internal structure that provides the necessary lever tension. This eliminates the need for metal springs and makes the model easy to assemble.
- Two Base Options:
- Magnetic Attachment: Includes dedicated holes (19.5x4.9x3.3mm) for neodymium magnets to securely fix the key to any metal surface.
- Fixed Mounting: A version with four 4mm holes is included for securely bolting the key to a wooden base or workbench.
- Compact and Portable: Optimized for light weight and small dimensions, making it ideal for SOTA or POTA activations.
- Easy Customization: You can easily adjust the key travel using the side bolts. The threads are standard for 3mm bolts and are built directly into the design.
Required Hardware
- Bolts and Nuts: 4x M3 screws, 2x M3 nuts, and 6x washers.
- Magnets: (Optional) 19.5x4.9mm neodymium magnets for the magnetic base version.
- Audio Jack: 6mm hole for a standard 3.5mm jack.
- Wiring: A small amount of copper wire to connect the contacts to the jack.
Print Settings
- Method: Print in two parts by separating the arm from the base.
- Material: PETG is recommended for its elasticity and the durability of the spring, but PLA also works great.
- Infill: 25-40%. Higher infill for the base will provide more weight and stability.
- Supports: Only in the magnet holes.
Assembly Tips (Mechanical Preparation)
- Cleaning: Before final assembly, ensure that the main pivot axis and the arm's hole are cleared of any filament residue or printing artifacts.
- Smooth Operation: For best results, lightly sand the mating surfaces until the arm rotates smoothly and moves freely without resistance.
New Adjustable Version Available!
- I have designed an improved version of this key that uses metal springs for adjustable tension and reinforced pillars for better stability. Check it out here: 👉 Adjustable Single Lever Morse Code Key (CW Paddle)
