💰 Treasure Mimic Miniature – The Golden Deception for Dungeons & Dragons and fantasy games
Brilliant, irresistible… and absolutely lethal. This Treasure Mimic transforms greed into a deadly trap, depicted as revealing itself to be a mountain of coins and jewels, with gaping jaws and a slimy tongue ready to ensnare the next victim.
At first glance, it looks like a simple pile of gold with a sword stuck in the top like forgotten loot. But at the center of the treasure, a huge mouth bristling with sharp fangs opens, surrounded by detailed mucous membranes and a sinuous tongue extending outwards. The scenic effect is spectacular: a perfect mix of wonder and terror.
The finely sculpted coins, overlapping piles, scattered small objects, and dynamic composition make this miniature a true narrative piece, ideal for surprising players at the least opportune moment.
Treasure mimics are among the oldest and most cunning of their kind. The massive, amorphous form of a treasure mimic and its shapeshifting ability allow it to assume the guise of a vast treasure, not a single object. Like smaller mimics, treasure mimics secrete a sticky substance to ensnare prey. They can also emit a thin, caustic mist from their pores that burns and blinds trapped creatures.
Treasure mimics are so named because many form alliances with dragons, each serving as a false hoard in a dragon's lair to lure unsuspecting intruders away from true riches and into the mimic's maw. If faced with unexpectedly strong enemies, however, a treasure mimic might offer information about the true treasure in exchange for its life.
✨ Key features:
- A huge pile of treasure that reveals itself to be an enormous Mimic.
- Detailed maw with sharp teeth and a prominent tongue.
- Sword embedded in the top of the loot for strong visual impact.
- A richly detailed scenic base with coins, gems, and scattered objects.
- Perfect as an iconic trap or a memorable dungeon encounter.
🎨 Perfect for painting: the richly textured surface is ideal for metallic effects on gold, glossy contrasts inside the mouth, and realistic details on the teeth and tongue. It lends itself magnificently to techniques such as dry brushing, washes, and OSL for magical effects on the sword.
📏 Game scale: compatible with Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder, and other fantasy RPGs. Excellent as a Large creature or as an interactive scenic element for special encounters (80mm).
If you want to turn a simple treasure into a moment of pure panic at the table… this Mimic is ready to bite your heroes just when they think they’ve found the reward. 🗡️👑
