Description
PLA / PLA-CF – Print Settings (Bambu Lab A1 | 0.08 mm Layer Height)
These print settings are practically tested and specifically optimized for standard PLA and PLA-CF on the Bambu Lab A1.
They are designed as solid baseline settings that already deliver very high print quality.
Fine tuning can — and should — be adjusted depending on the specific part and application.
These settings are intentionally configured slightly slower to achieve a cleaner surface finish, better layer adhesion, and overall higher print quality.
They provide a very strong starting point for producing reliable and professional results.
Key points (Bambu Lab A1 optimized):
- Layer height: minimum 0.08 mm
- Use moderate retraction settings to avoid stringing
- Ensure clean travel moves for consistent surface quality
- Print at steady, slightly reduced speeds for optimal layer bonding
- Infill and wall lines are the main parameters for controlling strength and weight
Temperature settings:
- Nozzle temperature: 230 °C (PLA & PLA-CF)
- Bed temperature:
- First and second layer: 70 °C
- All following layers: 65 °C
Filament & moisture:
All tests were performed under normal room conditions.
Drying the filament is recommended if you experience:
- excessive stringing
- rough surface quality
- weak layer adhesion
Moisture can negatively affect surface finish and layer bonding.
For PLA-CF, a hardened steel nozzle is strongly recommended due to the abrasive carbon fibers.
Wall thickness and number of wall lines are the most important parameters for controlling strength and stability — often more influential than infill alone.
Tested real-world settings – no theory, just reproducible results.
