🖤Mordor Container – The One Ring Rotating Mechanism
This model is a decorative container inspired by Mordor and the Lord of the Rings (LOTR) universe, featuring at its center the most powerful iconography of all: the Eye of Sauron and the inscription of the One Ring
The project originated as a true modular artifact: a desk/collection item combining Tolkienian aesthetics with a simple yet effective mechanism, designed to be printable without AMS and easily assembled
The engraving reproduces the famous phrase:
“One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them,
One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.”
The special thing is that you can choose two modes of use, depending on the version you print (see below)
🌀 Rotating Mechanism and Modularity
The model is designed with a double-cylinder system:
Outer cylinder: the black 'shell', with the Eye of Sauron and details inspired by the landscapes of Mordor
Inner cylinder: inserts and rotates inside, creating an 'unveiling' effect of the inscription
By rotating the inner cylinder, the phrase can visually complete/align (in the combo version) or be already complete (in the standalone version)
🧩 Two versions available
✔ COMBO Version (outer cylinder + inner cylinder)
The inscription is designed to complete between the outer and inner parts
When the two elements are assembled, the text 'comes alive' as an enigma that reassembles with rotation
It is the most spectacular and 'magical' version
✔ INNER CYLINDER ONLY Version (standalone)
Here the phrase is complete on the inner cylinder
The cylinder can be used alone as a container, without depending on the outer part
Perfect if you want a simpler but super iconic object
🧷 Assembly (easy, stress-free)
Rings on the inner cylinder: designed to interlock → just press lightly and they will snap into place
Rings on the outer cylinder: need to be glued (for stability and a clean aesthetic finish)
Result: quick and satisfying assembly, with a very 'relic' final look
🎨 Materials and aesthetic result (NO AMS)
This model is designed to be printed in two colors without AMS:
Black PLA → cylinder bodies
Gold PLA → rings / top band
🎯 The Eye of Sauron in the photo was hand-painted with red, yellow, and orange acrylic (optional): even a simple touch of color immediately brings the piece to life
If you want to improve it, it takes little effort: a fuller red and perhaps a small central highlight for an 'embers' effect
