Description

Universal Mini Toolbox Inserts – V3

For Kobalt and US General Mini Toolboxes

This is Version 3 of my universal mini toolbox insert system. Completely redesigned for full interchangeability between drawers, tighter fitment, and easier installation.

After multiple iterations and real world testing, I resized and refined the geometry so every insert can now be mixed and matched between both drawers while still maximizing usable space.

This is the most refined version yet.

What’s New in V3

• Fully interchangeable inserts between top and bottom drawers
• Keyed interlocking design so inserts do not shift
• Optimized sizing to maximize drawer space
• Small parts insert now includes a fitted lid
• Lid includes built in text relief area for custom labeling
• No drawer removal required for installation
• Verified fit for all Kobalt and US General Mini Toolboxes

Easy Installation

You no longer need to remove any drawers to install the inserts. They are designed to drop directly into place.

Note for Harbor Freight US General Mini Toolbox owners:
Drawer liners must be removed prior to installation for proper fit.

Drawer Configurations

Top Drawer
• 1 Large + 1 Slim insert
OR
• 3 Slim inserts

Bottom Drawer
• 2 Slim + 1 Large insert
OR
• 4 Slim inserts

All inserts are keyed so they interlock and stay aligned when opening and closing the drawers.

Customizable Lid

The small parts lid includes a recessed relief area specifically designed for adding custom text in your slicer.

Add labels like:
M3 Screws
Wood Screws
Electrical
Spare Parts
Or even your own branding

This allows you to personalize your setup without modifying the model.

Print Recommendations

PLA is perfect for hobby or indoor use.
PETG is recommended if the toolbox will live in a hot garage or workshop environment.

For inserts that have the keyed bottoms, I recommend printing with supports enabled. This greatly reduces stringing in the keyed areas and improves overall print quality. The additional print time and filament usage are minimal.

I have clearly noted in the files which inserts do not require supports.

Print profiles for both PLA and PETG are included.

If you print it, post a make. I would love to see how you configure your setup.

More modular inserts and expansion pieces coming soon.
