Description

This is a holder for adding a bubble level to the Velbon tripods UT-63 and UT-653.

The bubble level protrudes about 2 mm above the line of the base of the ball head, but with the combination of the UT-63 tripod and the QHD-S6AS ball head, there was no problem when folding the tripod.

If the tripod’s mounting platform and the base of the ball head are circular with a diameter of 41 mm and use a 1/4-inch screw, it will likely fit in most cases.

Referring to the second photo, glue the main body and the holder together, then insert and glue a round bubble level (16 mm diameter, 7 mm thick) into the hole in the holder.
You should be able to find a suitably sized bubble level on Amazon or similar sites.

Pass the tripod screw through the hole in the main body and attach the ball head, making sure the bubble level faces upward. Installation is then complete.

I printed mine in PLA.
I haven’t tried other filaments, but I believe it should work without any issues.

Update:
Since I confirmed that it does not interfere with the center pole grip, I increased the thickness of the holder body from 3 mm to 5 mm.

I also added a small hole in the bottom of the cup that holds the bubble level. If the level is attached with double-sided tape, you can push a pin through this hole to remove and recover the level.

This way, when you remake the holder, you won’t have to discard the bubble level along with it.
