The USS Ronald Reagan (English: USS Ronald Reagan, hull number: CVN-76, abbreviated: USS Reagan aircraft carrier) is the ninth Nimitz-class aircraft carrier built by the United States in the late 1990s, and the first aircraft carrier commissioned by the United States in the 21st century.
The USS Ronald Reagan is 332.85 meters long, with a draft of 11.3 meters; its flight deck is 78.34 meters wide, with a total deck area of 18,000 square meters, and a standard displacement of 97,000 tons; the ship is powered by two A4W nuclear reactors, four steam turbines, and four bronze propellers, with a maximum output of 194 megawatts, a speed of 30 knots, and a designed service life of 50 years, with two nuclear reactors capable of operating continuously for 20 years without refueling; the USS Reagan's weaponry includes two Mk 29 "Sea Sparrow" surface-to-air missile launchers, three "Phalanx" close-in weapon systems, and two new "RAM" missile launch systems, each equipped with 21 "RAM" missiles; the ship can carry 80 aircraft of various types, including fighter jets, electronic warfare aircraft, and helicopters.
Construction of the USS Ronald Reagan began in 1998 at the Newport News Shipbuilding in Newport News, USA, she was launched in 2000, and officially named on March 4, 2001. Upon commissioning, the USS Reagan's homeport was Naval Base San Diego in California, USA, and she was assigned to the U.S. Pacific Fleet.
