Description
The Asturian hórreo is a traditional wooden structure, elevated on stone pillars («pegollos») with rodent-proof grindstones, used since the Middle Ages to dry and store grain and food. It is an iconic symbol of Asturian rural architecture, with over 20,000 examples, characterized by its nail-free assembly and, at times, with decorative carvings.
