Turn unused space on your wire shelf into a sturdy, always-within-reach paper towel station. This Wire Rack Big Paper Towel Roll Holder mounts directly to the shelf wires and keeps a large kitchen roll securely in place, without drilling, without glue, and without permanent modifications.
Designed for everyday practicality, the holder is shaped to guide the roll smoothly while you tear sheets, helping reduce wobble and keeping the roll aligned. It’s ideal for kitchens, pantries, laundry rooms, workshops, garages, and anywhere you use wire shelving and want fast access to paper towels without sacrificing counter space.
Key features
- Fast clip-on installation on common wire rack shelves
- Space-saving: uses the underside/edge area of the shelf instead of your countertop
- Built for big rolls (paper towel / kitchen roll formats)
- Simple, clean geometry for reliable printing and easy maintenance
- “Universal fit” approach: one model that adapts to small wire-size differences
Printing recommendations
- Material: PLA works well for most homes; PETG is recommended for warmer environments, higher toughness, or heavy daily use
- Layer height: 0.20 mm (or 0.24 for faster prints)
- Walls/perimeters: 2–4
- Infill: 15\%–30\% (gyroid/grid), increase if you expect frequent pulling/one-handed tearing
- Orientation: print as provided (flat on the bed) for best strength in the clip area
- Supports: only if your slicer suggests them for overhangs; try support “from build plate” and keep it minimal
- Optional: add a brim if your printer tends to lift corners
Fit tip (important)
Wire shelving varies slightly in wire diameter and coating thickness. If the connector/clip feels a bit loose or “springy” on your shelf, don’t reprint a different version: simply insert a small shim made from paper masking tape (nastro di carta).
How to do it:
- Add 1 small strip of masking tape on the shelf wire where the clip grips (or inside the clip contact area)
- Test the fit and add a second layer only if needed
- This micro-thickness adjustment makes the holder more secure and keeps the model truly universal, avoiding multiple clip sizes for different shelves
Disclaimer / Safety
This is a 3D-printed accessory. Print quality, material choice, and your specific shelf geometry affect strength and fit. Use at your own risk. Always test the holder with an empty roll first, then with a full roll, and check stability before everyday use. Do not overload, do not use for climbing/hanging, and keep away from children if installed at reachable height. Inspect periodically for cracks, deformation, or loosening—especially in warm environments—and reprint if any damage appears.
Hardware required
To assemble the holder you will need 4x M3 screws and 4x M3 nuts.
Recommended:
- M3 screw length: 10–16 mm (choose based on your printed tolerances and whether you use washers)
- Optional: 4x M3 washers for a cleaner, more secure clamp
