💭 Concept
What happens when a light bulb accidentally falls and shatters… but the light doesn’t go out?
Shattered Light Bulb Lamp is an object balanced between function and illusion. In this lamp, the light does not disappear. It spills — like a thick, viscous liquid. After all, on April Fools’ Day, even light can be a liquid.
👁️ Illusion & Reversed Intuition
On a round base resembling a wooden floor lies a shattered light bulb — a trace of an apparent accident. Next to it stands a warning sign: “Wet Floor.”
A hidden LED panel within the base illuminates the puddle, suggesting that the bulb’s contents have escaped. A broken light bulb should mean darkness — here, it becomes a source of excess light.
⚙️ Technical Execution
The light source is the LED Lamp Kit 001 by Bambu Lab, integrated into the base to evenly diffuse the glow and create the effect of a “spilled” luminous puddle. The lighting module is secured inside the base with a cover held in place by six D5 × 3 mm neodymium magnets, ensuring a stable construction while allowing easy access to the LED unit when needed.
