IKEA ALEX Drawer Insert for Sewing Thread | Modular Spool Organizer
With this 3D-printable drawer insert for the IKEA ALEX cabinet, you can store your sewing thread neatly, clearly, and space-efficiently.
For a complete drawer, 6 plates are used. Pins (pegs) can be inserted into the plates, on which the thread spools are placed. This allows the spacing between the thread spools to be flexibly adjusted, so that different thread spools can easily fit.
Thanks to the modular system, you can individually configure your drawer and adapt it to your needs.
The insert can also be combined with my organizer for overlock thread. For example, you can combine a drawer with 4 plates for sewing thread and 1 module of the overlock insert and thus organize different types of thread in one drawer.
⚠️ Note on printing the pins:
Please print the test pin first to check the fit for your printer. Depending on printer tolerances, it may be necessary to slightly scale the pin so that the pin fits firmly in the plate, but is not too loose.

This 3D printable drawer insert for the IKEA ALEX cabinet helps you store and organize sewing thread neatly and efficiently. It is designed to fit perfectly inside an ALEX drawer, keeping your thread spools organized and easy to access.
A full drawer uses 6 plates. The plates allow you to insert pins (spool holders) where the thread spools can be placed. This design lets you adjust the spacing between spools, making the organizer flexible for different thread sizes.
The modular system allows you to customize the layout of your drawer depending on your storage needs.
This organizer can also be combined with my Overlock Thread Organizer. For example, you can use 4 plates of the sewing thread insert and 1 module of the overlock insert to store different types of thread in the same drawer.
