Printing Tips & Buoyancy (Technical Section)
- Slicer Settings:
- Infill: 5% to 10% maximum. Use a Gyroid pattern (more robust and distributes air better)
- Walls: 2 or 3 walls to ensure watertightness without adding weight to the object
- 2-part Version: Glue the two halves with strong glue like Cyanoacrylate to create an airtight air chamber
- Filament Choice:
- PLA +: Floats well with low infill, but may deform in the sun on a boat
- PETG: Ideal! UV and water resistant
- Foamed Filament (Aero-PLA / LW-PLA): The best of the best for maximum buoyancy
