Designed to fit standard 13x18cm IKEA picture frames (e.g. RÖDALM) and powered by an affordable ESP32, this project combines low energy consumption with high customizability. Whether you want daily AI‑generated images, weather dashboards, or a rotating gallery of your favorite photos, this frame blends seamlessly into any smart home setup.

Key Features:

3D Printing:

Before printing, check the clip layout on the back of your IKEA frame. Depending on the position of the wire clips, choose one of the following:

  • frame_lower_clips or
  • frame_higher_clips
    These ensure a secure and precise fit for your specific frame model.

Here are the files you need to print:

  • frame_lower_clips, frame_higher_clips : Fit clips for a proper assembly of the frame
  • display_backplate: Base part that securely holds the ePaper display
  • esp_box: Enclosure for the ESP32 microcontroller
  • display_cable_box: Guides and organizes the display cables
  • short_grid: optional mount for portrait wall hanging setup
  • long_grid: optional mount for landscape wall hanging setup

Print Settings

  • Filament Material: PLA or PETG
  • Supports: No
  • Resolution: 0.2mm
  • Infill: 20%
