Description

Peltier Cell Mini Air Conditioner

During the scorching summer of 2018, I needed a way to cool down my garage. Since I didn't have the space for a traditional external AC compressor, I had to get creative. My solution was to design a system that could vent heat out of the room through a specific exhaust point.

I wondered: What if I could consolidate all the heat produced by a Peltier cell—or a bank of cells—into one place and duct it away? By efficiently cooling the "hot side" of the cells, I could significantly drop the temperature on the "cold side."

Project Details

This enclosure is specifically designed for a 3-cell Peltier cooling unit (which can be found affordably on eBay or Amazon).

  • Heat Management: The hot air is contained within the box and connected to an exhaust fan that pushes the heat completely out of the room.
  • Airflow: I included specific intake vents in the design to ensure high-volume air circulation. This keeps the hot side from overheating, allowing the cold side to remain frosty and effectively cool the room.
