Description
Gear Knob for Mini R56
This project is a replacement gear knob for the Mini R56, designed to use the same interlocking system as the original knob, thus allowing for simple and direct assembly without modifications.
Two versions of the knob are included:
- Smooth version
- Version with gear numbers engraved on the top
Both versions maintain an ergonomic and clean shape, while offering a more personalized look inside the car.
The model includes a specially designed integrated support base to improve adhesion to the print bed.
This base:
- increases the contact surface with the bed
- prevents the piece from detaching during printing
- allows the knob to be printed without additional supports
Once printing is finished, the base can be easily removed after detaching the piece from the bed and leaves no residue or marks on the knob's surface.
For printing, the use of ASA is strongly recommended.
During summer, the interior of the car can reach very high temperatures and materials like PLA or PETG could deform or soften.
ASA, on the other hand, offers greater heat resistance, making it more suitable for automotive applications.
