Description

I made a desktop lamp inspired by the Celestron CPC 800 (XLT) telescope. It has an adjustable mount that allows for both tilting and rotation.

Features

  • Interchangeable Front Plates: Customize the look of the lamp and the intensity of the light with the thin “color plates”. The plates act as diffusers and filters to change the appearance of the lamp face and the color/brightness of the light. Or leave it open for a more “spotlight” look. The front ring unscrews for easy swapping. (Note: These do not act like projection plates, they are diffusers and filters).
  • Adjustable Movement: Tilt and rotation are secured by 3D-printed screws to hold the lamp at your desired angle.
  • Scale: Fully assembled, the lamp stands approximately 360mm tall with a leg spread of 180mm.

Hardware Required

  • Light Base: Designed for this standard E26/E27 base. There are tons of the same style/clones you can find everywhere. Smaller bases and puck lights should work using adhesive strips, velcro strips, or something similar.
  • Bulb: Use LED bulbs only to minimize heat.
  • Adhesives: Super glue is required for final assembly.

Printing & Assembly

  • Material: PLA should be suitable for use with LED bulbs. If you are concerned about heat or use a higher-wattage LED, PETG is recommended.
  • Legs: All parts are 3D-printed. (The legs pictured were spray painted silver).
  • Assembly: Please refer to the included Assembly PDF for step-by-step instructions.

For Designers: Custom Plates

If you want to design your own inserts, the dimensions are:

  • Diameter: 109.6mm
  • Thickness: 0.6mm (You can vary the thickness quite a bit based on your preferences or needs.)

Thanks for checking it out, hope you like it! Clear skies!
