I. Design Background and Original Intention
With the release of the Huawei WATCH 5 series, its micro-curved screen design and high-end materials (such as titanium metal) have made it not just a smart device, but also a fashionable accessory for daily wear. However, when users place their watch on a desk, they usually face two choices: laying it flat directly (prone to wear, no information display) or using a third-party stand.
Currently, universal stands on the market suffer from the following pain points, which this design aims to address one by one:
1. Poor charging compatibility: Many stands do not consider the embedding method of the original magnetic charger, leading to the watch failing to align with the coil when placed on it, resulting in intermittent charging.
2. Disordered cable management: Cables on the desk are messy, and the stand lacks cable management features.
3. Lack of portability: Traditional integrated stands are bulky and not portable.
4. Crown obstruction: Some stand designs are unreasonable, compressing or obstructing the WATCH 5's digital crown, affecting operation.
II. Core Design Concept
This design is named 'Hidden Base', implying 'hidden on the desk, stable as a foundation'. It aims to fully integrate the stand into the desktop environment while providing a stable and elegant resting place for the watch.
1. Form Language: Minimalist Suspension
· Appearance: Adopts a minimalist geometric cutting style. The overall shape is a flat 'wedge' or 'rounded rectangular platform', with thickness controlled within 12mm.
· Visuals: When the watch is placed, it presents a slightly suspended visual effect. The stand body is recessed as much as possible to highlight the aesthetic beauty of the watch dial itself.
2. Core Function: Sunken Magnetic Module Design
· Adaptability: For the original wireless charging base of Huawei WATCH 5, a precise circular sunken groove (depth approximately 3-5mm) is reserved at the top of the stand.
· Stability: The original charger is embedded in the groove, using the groove's edge to physically secure the charger, preventing it from being dislodged when the watch is placed on it. A cable pass-through hole is left at the bottom of the groove.
