🚀 If you enjoy this project, please consider giving it a Boost! Your support motivates me to develop new versions, add new features, and continuously improve this design based on your feedback. Thank you! ❤️

If you already have magnets and want to avoid buying new ones, please contact me by message, specifying their shape and dimensions (ideally measured with a caliper)

I can adapt the model and add the corresponding profile so that other users can also benefit from it

This system allows you to install a mosquito net without any drilling, ideal for apartments or homes where modifying the facade is prohibited

It is designed to work with:

  • classic windows
  • French windows
  • roller shutters

👉 The objective: effectively protect against mosquitoes, wasps, and hornets, while maintaining a simple, clean, and removable setup

💡 Project Context and Objective

This model was born from a real need

At home, we were invaded by mosquitoes, but also by wasps and hornets. With two young children, leaving things as they were was out of the question

The problem:

  • impossible to drill (new facade)
  • commercial solutions are either very expensive or poorly suited for roller shutters
  • existing systems are not always neatly removable

👉 So I designed a solution that is simple, accessible, printable, and reversible

🧪 Model Development

I started with an initial version using Ø8×3 mm magnets

➡️ Result: too weak
➡️ The mosquito net (rigid mesh) pulled too much → it didn't hold properly

So I revised the design to integrate much more powerful magnets:

👉 20 × 10 × 3 mm → validated version

This version is tested:

  • at my home
  • at a relative's home in Paris (same configuration)

👉 Result: reliable attachment, clean removal, good durability over time

📐 Technical Specifications

  • Support dimensions: 70 × 15 × 10 mm
  • Magnet housing depth: 10 mm
  • Two-part system:
    • female part (glued to the frame)
    • male part (which pinches the mosquito net)

🔒 Mosquito Net Retention

A small integrated lug allows for:

  • pinching the mosquito net
  • preventing it from slipping over time

🧵 3D Printing

  • Recommended material: PETG
    • better resistance
    • better heat resistance
  • Consumption:
    • 3.5 g male part
    • 3.5 g female part
      👉 7 g per support

👉 Simple print, no supports needed

🛠️ Required Materials

  • Magnets 20 × 10 × 3 mm
  • Double-sided tape (3M type, ~0.8 mm recommended)
  • Cyanoacrylate glue
  • Mosquito net (cut to size)

👉 4 magnets per support

🔧 Detailed Assembly

1. Female part preparation

  • Apply a small dab of glue in each housing
  • Insert the magnets forcefully
  • ⚠️ Do not overfill → otherwise overflow

2. Polarity (very important)

  • All magnets must be in the same direction
  • Otherwise, the parts will not attract correctly

3. Automatic alignment

  • Place the other magnets directly on top of those already in place
👉 They will orient themselves correctly

4. Male part assembly

  • Apply a dot of glue in the housings
  • Press the male part onto the female part
  • Press firmly
  • Let dry

5. Applying double-sided tape

  • Apply to the female part
  • Smooth thoroughly (ruler, utility knife, etc)

👉 Support completed

🪟 Window Installation

⚠️ Essential Step

👉 Clean the surface before gluing

  • alcohol recommended
  • otherwise, durability will be poor

📌 Recommended number of supports

👉 Personally:

  • 4 on the left
  • 4 on the right
  • 4 on top
    👉 Total: 12 supports

Bottom of the window

  • either add supports (if possible)
  • or mosquito net trapped between sash/frame
👉 solution I use at home

👍 Advantages

✔ No drilling
✔ Compatible with roller shutters
✔ Removable
✔ Very low cost
✔ Homemade
✔ Adaptable to all dimensions

⚠️ Limitations / Points of Attention

  • requires a clean and smooth surface
  • depends on the quality of the double-sided tape
  • the more rigid the mosquito net → the more powerful the magnets need to be
  • strictly observe magnet polarity

🧪 Real-world Feedback

  • Tested in real conditions
  • Installation validated by several people
  • No issues with door + roller shutter closing

👉 A simple but truly effective solution in an apartment context
