Hi,

The thread function in Fusion is pretty cool, but having to constantly adjust the offset afterwards by pushing and pulling is totally annoying. Additionally, the metric thread profiles are simply too fine for me and the pitch is too small. For this reason, with the help of Chat GPT, I created a script for custom thread profiles with different flank angles, adjustable offsets, and pitches between 1 and 6 mm.

To be able to use the threads permanently, you simply need to copy the profiles into Fusion's thread profile folder. After restarting Fusion, the profiles can then be used with the thread function. To prevent the profiles from disappearing with the next Fusion update, I would also install the "Threadkeeper" addon from the Fusion App Store (free). In addition, the addon provides a shortcut to Fusion's thread profile folder. You can find instructions on my Instagram account.

This is a first attempt to optimize the thread function in Fusion for my needs. I spent a really long time writing with Chat GPT for this and tested a total of 17 versions. There is certainly still room for improvement, for example, the offsets could be made in smaller steps within a sensible range, so if you have any ideas, let me know and I will torment Chat GPT further with my suggestions for improvement 😉

Have fun designing!!!
