Description

Modular GT3 Style Wheel – Fanatec Universal Hub V2

Note: The wheel pictured was printed in black matte PLA. It is the same model but not the newest version—the latest files include improved ergonomics for better comfort.

Versions

Heat Insert Version (Recommended)

  • Center section with separate handles
  • Uses heat-set inserts and screws
  • Most serviceable
  • Only modular option

Hardware

  • 8x heat-set threaded inserts (M3)
  • 8x M3 x 5-10mm screws (for handles)
  • 6x flat or countersunk M5 x 12mm screws (to mount to Fanatec Universal Hub V2, standard wheel mounting pattern)

Press-Fit Version

  • Side and center combined
  • Handle presses on
  • No hardware required

One-Piece Version

  • Fully integrated

Hub Caps

  • Basic Fanatec logo version (Press Fit)
  • Blank version for customization

Fits all wheel versions.

Grip

The wheel shown uses electrical tape on the handles. This works well and adds comfort.

Recommended:

  • Stick-on microfiber or suede wrap

Compatibility & Testing

  • Fanatec Universal Hub V2
  • Suitable for direct drive setups
  • Tested on CSL DD and ClubSport DD+ bases up to 12 Nm torque

Compatibility

  • Fanatec Universal Hub V2
  • Suitable for direct drive setups

Print Settings

  • Material: PLA/+ or PETG recommended

Handles

  • Walls: 5–6
  • Top/Bottom: 5–6
  • Infill:15% (gyroid)

Hub Mount

  • Walls: 5-6
  • Top/Bottom: 10 (to avoid any flex)
  • Infill:15% (gyroid)

Higher wall count matters more than infill for strength.

Hardware (Heat Insert Version)

  • Heat-set inserts
  • Machine screws

Notes

Optional: QR2 Mount

This wheel's Universal Hub can be used with a 3D printed QR2 slide mount as an alternative to buying one.

This part is not included in this project.

Make sure to follow the original model’s print settings and use materials appropriate for your torque level.

  • Photos show the heat insert version
  • Images are slightly outdated
  • Files include newer revisions and improvements
