Description
This time, we present the Hawkins grenade model. This landmine is named after its designer and was deployed in 1942. It was one of a series of infantry anti-tank weapons urgently developed by Britain after the Dunkirk evacuation to counter a potential German invasion. Because of its compact size and brown coating, British soldiers often humorously referred to it as the “Johnson's Wax tin” due to its resemblance to the popular Johnson's floor wax cans of the era
