Description

Universal Funnel Filament Guide

I’ve been using funnel-style guides like this for connecting external filament spools for quite a long time, and over time it became clear that their use goes far beyond what it might seem at first glance.

The main idea is simple: instead of trying to “aim” the filament into a narrow opening or a PTFE tube, you get a wide entry area that smoothly guides the filament further. This is especially convenient when frequently changing materials or working with multiple spools.

If you like this model, a repost, boost, or like is the best way to say “make more.” It directly supports development and the creation of new projects.

Another advantage is working with flexible materials like TPU. In some cases, I completely eliminate any intermediate paths and feed the filament directly into the extruder through this funnel. Depending on the printer, this can be significantly more stable and convenient.

For example, when working with automatic feeding systems on newer Elegoo printers, I used several of these funnels at once—one for each channel. It’s simply much more convenient than trying to precisely guide filament into a narrow tube every time.

As for installing the fitting: if you’ve seen my other models (filters, adapters, splitters), the principle is exactly the same. I use standard locking elements from regular fittings—they can be carefully removed and reused. To install them in this model, just slightly heat the plastic (for example, with a heat gun) and press-fit the fitting lock into place. It’s quick and straightforward.

Printing-wise, everything is predictable: the smaller the layer height, the better the inner surface of the funnel, and the smoother the filament will pass through.

As for materials, PETG works best—it provides a smooth surface with minimal resistance. However, other materials can also be used depending on your needs.
