Snapmaker U1 Fan Mount Rockchip & Driver Cooling
Print Profile(3)

Description
This 3D-printable fan mount is designed to improve cooling performance inside the Snapmaker U1 by directing airflow specifically onto the Rockchip and stepper drivers.
The mount supports two 30×30×10 mm fans (e.g. GDSTime GDA3010, 24V), providing a focused and efficient airflow path to critical components. This helps reduce temperatures during long print jobs, high enclosure temperatures, or when printing demanding materials.
The compact design allows for clean installation while keeping cable routing simple and unobtrusive.
🔧 Features
- Designed for 2× 3010 fans (24V)
- Direct airflow to Rockchip + stepper drivers
- Compact and easy-to-install design
- Ideal for long prints and high-temperature environments
🔇 Optional Configurations
Silent / Low Vibration Mode
For quieter operation, a DC step-down converter can be used to reduce fan voltage (e.g. down to ~10V).
This significantly lowers noise and minimizes resonance.
Temperature-Controlled Operation
You can optionally integrate a thermal switch (50°C, Normally Open, 250V 5A).
This allows the fans to automatically turn on only when needed.
❄️ Additional Cooling Recommendation
For best results, it is highly recommended to use heatsinks on the Rockchip and stepper drivers.
While the fan mount significantly improves airflow, combining it with heatsinks will:
- increase overall cooling efficiency
- improve heat dissipation directly at the source
- further reduce component temperatures under load
This combination ensures maximum thermal performance and long-term reliability, especially during extended print sessions or in high-temperature environments.
💡 Why use this?
- Improves thermal stability
- Protects sensitive electronics
- Reduces risk of overheating during long jobs
- Customizable for performance or silent operation
🧱 Material
Recommended: ABS or ASA
These materials are ideal due to their high temperature resistance and durability, making them suitable for enclosed printer environments and continuous operation near electronics.
⚙️ Print Settings
- Layer Height: 0.2 mm
- Wall Lines: 4
- Supports: Tree Supports enabled
💡 Additional Notes
- Printing in an enclosed environment is highly recommended (especially for ABS).
- Use proper bed adhesion (e.g. brim or glue) to prevent warping.
- ASA is preferred if you want better UV and long-term stability.
🔧 Installation & Wiring
There is currently no full video guide for installation.
However, you can follow Snapmaker’s official instructions (e.g. PSU replacement guide) to open the printer until you reach the PSU area.
⚠️ The PSU does not need to be removed — only opened for access.
The mount itself is installed using the two original screws on the right side of the board.
Wiring overview:
Power is taken directly from the PSU:
- Use VC+ and VC- from the PSU (4 free terminals available)
Optional safety feature:
- Add a 50°C thermal switch (NO) in the VC+ line between PSU and converter
Connection:
PSU → Step-Down Converter
- VC+ → DC+ IN
- VC- → DC- IN
Converter → Fans
- DC+ OUT → Fan positive
- DC- OUT → Fan ground

💡 Installation Tip – Special thanks to @user_3198431580
Before disassembling, move the print bed to a mid-position on the Z-axis.
This allows you to check the clearance between the fan module and the Z-axis guide.
In most cases, no modification is required.
If necessary, a small plastic tab near the Z-axis guide can be slightly trimmed.
