Modular honeycomb shelf
Print Profile(2)

Description
A shelf as you wish… :)
This shelf is an excellent example of 3D Printed modular design. Its hexagonal structure (often called "honeycomb") offers an excellent balance between lightness and structural rigidity.
Here is a technical description of the components visible on your creation in PLA :
Shelf Composition
The assembly relies on a glue-free mechanical assembly system, using flat panels and specific corner connectors.
1. The Plates (5 different models available in the profile)
Although the shelf forms three cells, it uses 5 main horizontal/oblique plates in black PLA.
- Texture: They feature a full and smooth surface, probably printed on a textured build plate for a matte finish.
- Role: They serve as load-bearing surfaces (the "floors" and "ceilings" of the hexagons).
2. The Side Panels (Mesh)
To lighten the structure while maintaining a "tech" aesthetic, the vertical and oblique walls use two types of patterns:
- Hexagonal Pattern (Honeycomb): Present on the central sections, it ensures torsional rigidity.
- Triangular/Isogrid Pattern: Visible on the green outer walls, this pattern is extremely resistant to compression forces.
Angle Nomenclature (Connectors)
To reproduce this model exactly, you have used several types of green PLA connectors, designed for 120° angles (the internal angle of a regular hexagon):
| Connector Type | Estimated Quantity | Specific Role |
|---|---|---|
| Simple Angle (2-way) | 8 to 10 units | Connects two plates to close external vertices. |
| Y-Junction (3-way) | 4 units | Central pivot points where three plates meet (intersection of hexagons). |
You can print in any color you like, enjoy.
The first print profile features bi-color PLA plates
It's your turn to play!!!!!
