Ratcheting Egg - Satisfying Fidget Desk Toy
Print Profile(1)

Description
It ratchets in both directions, what else to say?
I had this egg idea yesterday when i noticed, that there is an ongoing contest so i jumped into cad software. It was my first time modeling something ,,organic'' and also my first time making a fidget toy, so it was fun. I wanted to also make it print in place, but i would have to sacrifice ease of printing or funcionality, so this is what i came up with.
Printing/assembly notes
I decided to make the model from 3 parts, so that PLA can be used for the entire outer shell. This ensures more customisation options for you, therefore you can make more variations of this satisfying egg. As with all my models, all parts should be printed in the orientation that you get them in after downloading the 3mf file. This model contains 2 plates - 1 with egg shells that can be printed in any material, and 1 with the mechanism that has to be printed in PETG/PCTG. Make sure to have your printer calibrated for your filaments for the tolerances to be exact. Also ensure a cleaned buildplate for optimal bed adhesion.
The whole assembly comes together by simply twisting the mechanism into the egg bottom (make sure it is twisted all the way), and securing it with 2 pieces of filament (Although there is a relief cut in the top half, make sure to trim the filament as flush to the mechanism as possible/trim it and then push it deeper, that is why the holes are chamfered. Also make sure you get the fillament all the way through the mechanism into the bottom part.). After that just snap the top of the egg on the mechanism. Check out the gif below, it was also my first time making that.
The models on pictures were printed in the following filaments: Black galaxy PLA from prusa, Matte orange PLA from czech manufacturer (Alza), PETG hyper from czech manufacturer (Alza, used only for the mechanism)
Thank you for any downloads, likes or boosts and as always, any feedback is most welcome. Since there was not enough firsts with this model - it is also my first ever contest entry, so wish me luck :D.
