Geocaching Birdhouse with double back wall

Description

Here is a birdhouse with a hidden compartment behind a double back wall, so that it looks empty to Muggles. The back wall can be removed with the rod attached to the door.

Parts List

You will need the following disc magnets:

• 10mm x 2 mm: 4 pieces
• 6 mm x 2 mm: 4 pieces
• 5 mm x 1: 4 pieces

The birdhouse consists of the following parts:

• House, which is the main body
• Back wall, which can be removed
• Hinged door
• Rod, inserted into the door and containing the magnets for removing the back wall
• Roof
• Gable
• Cover for the hole in the gable
• Optional holder for a logbook and a pencil

Assembly

During printing, I inserted pauses to embed the magnets. These are marked in color below.

10mm x 2 mm

2 in the rod (to enhance the effect)

1 in the door (to hold the rod)

1 in the back wall (to allow removal)

6 mm x 2 mm

2 in the back wall (to hold it in the house)

2 in the house (to hold the back wall)

5 mm x 1 mm

2 in the door (to keep the door closed)

2 in the house (to keep the door closed)

The other magnets are glued according to the list with a drop of superglue.

Glue the cover for the hole into the gable.

Then glue the gable into the birdhouse.

A piece of filament serves as the door hinge, which you can secure at the ends with some superglue.

Finally, glue on the roof.

Optionally, the holder for the logbook can be mounted.
