Description

You will need to cut the plastic tab/key off to make it fit correctly!!! I have a picture of which one to cut in the post.

This is a fan adapter I made to quiet down my Supermicro SuperChassis 847E16-RJBOD1. I believe they use this fan/housing on multiple jbods/servers, but I only have the one to test it with. The stock fans use a normal PWM connector but with the plastic tab key in a different spot. Yes, the drives will run hotter so monitor your temps. If it's full of drives, you may not want to do this. I have 8 drives in mine currently and noticed the temps increased ~5-10c.

I have tested this with 3 different 80x80x25mm PWM fans and they all work fine. I designed it specifically for the ARCTIC P8 Max fan but it also worked on a Noctua NF-R8 and a random no-name fan I found.

The only issue I had was wire length, depending on how long the wire is you may have excess hanging out or bunching it up makes it harder to slide in. I had no issues with the Arctic's wire length, the Noctua's cable sheath was annoying.

If anyone's interested, I can share the CAD files, just send a message/comment.
