Description
Bambu Hex Key / Allen Wrench Handles
Handles for the two most critical hex keys (wrenches) the Bambu printers use for maintenance: 1.5mm and 2.0mm.
I found that just using the included hex keys was kind of annoying and could use a nice fat handle to get a better grip. Also, I have MFing carpel tunnel or something and drop things frequently and was always dropping the hex keys behind my workbench when tensioning the belts.
I purposely sized these handles pretty short and fat, so you can work in the smallest spaces of the printer, but if the size or shape of them doesn't work somewhere, feel free to leave me feedback.
You can use the hex keys that the printer comes with but tbh the quality of them is absolute shit, I recommend getting a set of name brand hex keys that won't round out and screw you by stripping your screws.
The design is blah, but it works and only took me 5 minutes in Fusion 360, so it is what it is. Could use some tweaks like a curved edge where the hex key sits, so it sits more flush. Feel free to remix, step files included.
Printing:
- Orientate as designed.
- 0.20mm layers is fine.
Assembly:
- Insert hex key from bottom.
- Apply a little bit of superglue where it sticks in from the bottom to hold it into place.
- If your hex keys don't fit in the handles your extrusion calibration might be off, you can size up the print 1% in slicer and try printing again or just drill the hole out bigger.
