Megatron's Fusion Cannon (Transformers Prime)

Still looking for the perfect weapon to conquer the universe?

How about a fusion cannon? 

This one comes with the wohle gauntlet!

Please read description before printing!

Materials needed:

Glue for assembly

Any sort of velcro band (up to 2 cm width) for easier wear

6x3 magnets (8) and a light source, if you want it to light up. I recommend an electric tee light as the simplest option.

Sizing:

The finished model (as is) is 55 cm long, 27 cm tall and 17 cm broad.

I am on the smaller side, so you might want to scale it up a little. Here's how to size it to fit you perfectly:

First, make a fist and measure from your knuckles to your elbow, the top part of the gauntlet should be a little longer than that, about 5 cm. Simply add the height of the two halves, Gauntlet top (front) and Gauntlet top (back) and scale until it matches your desired size. Then scale everything else accordingly.

Please note: 

- This will change the size of the holes for the magnets, but you'll need to glue them in anyways, so it won't make a big difference.

- The part  Gauntlet top (back) might become too tall to print if you scale it. I have an alternate printing profile where its's pre-cut and can be printed in two parts. 

Printing: 

Printing at 0.16 layer height, 2 walls, 8% infill, will take almost two days, but that's the price you need to pay for your own fusion cannon. 

I've cut the parts for both ease of printing, and looks. Seamlines are hidden wherever possible and supports are almost entirely on parts you won't see on the assembled model.

Most parts should be pretty easy to print, but a few are quite tall, with litte contact to the print bed. Make sure you have good adhesion and maybe slow down your print speed on those parts a little when printing on a bedslinger like the A1 for best results.

Assembly:

Nothing complicated, just a lot of parts.

Please make sure the magnets are secure bevor putting the pieces together, otherwise the magnets can bind up and it's a glitch to remove to two pieces from each other again when that happens (ask me how i know…)

I prefer using hot glue for light sources, this way they can be removed without too much difficulty if needed.

If you have no plans on adding a light source, skip the magnets and just glue these pieces in.

Due to the angle of the pins you'll have to slightly bend these pieces for assembly!

Repeat for the other side.

If you really trust your printers adhesion, you can print the middle and back part as one. It's possible, I've done it, but you need really good adhesion. If you want to try that, check out the alternate print profile for the Side Panels.

Repeat on both sides.

Step 13: Add a velcro band for easier handling. 

(It does have a handle to grab onto, but the back part tends to slide around a lot. Simply put the band loosely around your arm for the best effect.)

Optional Step 13: Add paint. You don't need to be a master painter to elevate your print to the next level. Just hit the edges with some silver paint, to simulate a bit of wear and tear. I used some rub n buff and a kitchen sponge.

And now you have your very own fusion cannon! 

The perfect weapon to take down a corrupt government or to try and archive world domination. Whatever you prefer (the two aren't mutually exclusive either) 

Filaments used:

- Bambo PLA basic in “Indigo purple” for the cannon, (works well, perfect color)

- Anycubic PLA in “grey” for the main gauntlet (works, a little bit darker might have been better)

- ZIRO PLA translucent in purple for the glow effect
