This peg is the foundation of the Anchor Point system I have started developing. The goal of the system is to better utilize a more cost effective peg board ($25 for a 4ftx8ft) in a more functional way. This means that the goal is strength, aesthetics and cost. I will be doing this through what I call various types of verticals:

  • General Items (Shelves/Hooks)
  • Garage Storage / Tools
  • A/V Storage
  • Desktop Decorum
  • Backdrops

This is the foundation of the entire system!

I've spent the last couple of months tweaking the model to get it to work as well as it does, going through over 30 iterations and 3 designs, but there is a reason it is called v1. And that is where I need your help with testing it and making suggestions on how to improve it!

 

This models was designed using a particular material, AMS TPU. TPU was the only material that has a strong enough layer bond to work with the design constraints. The other material you will need is some M3x5x4 heated inserts

 

The concept is that this is the all-in-one mounting solution for a peg board. The peg is designed with many mounting methods in mind:

  • A screw through the front for maximum strenth
  • 4 holes along the side for inset screws
  • A notch around the circumfrence for rather a slot or a clip
  • A snap on fitting

The goal of the peg is to be strong, durable and reusable, maximizing the utility of a peg board. This peg is particularly designed to be used with particle peg board. I'll be following this up with a modification that makes it work for thinner metal boards once I get my hand on one.

Here is what is great about the peg:

  • It's strong and can hold a lot of weight when mounted along 2 axis. We are talking like the weakest point is possibly how well you've mounted the board itself to your wall. 

Here is the weaknesses I am trying to overcome:

  • The peg will become compromised when something is mounted to a single peg or multiple pegs along one axis. The peg can be ripped out of the board, but the peg will break before the board. This can comprise the hole for future pegs. This is due to the nature of particle board that needs to be designed around. Currently this is overcome by using multiple pegs along 2 axis, removing leverage, which then makes it as strong as a rock. 

I'm working on releasing some models that compliment the strength of the system while I work on solving for the weakness, such as the Drill Rack & Shelf and a Cubby w/ Basket. But I wanted to get this out to gage interest and get design recommendations on what you want to see out of the system. I have a bunch of ideas, but I'm sure there are many more needs than I can think of!
