Joy-Con x iPad - Tablet Cover Mod
Print Profile(1)

Description
Want to play games on your iPad with JoyCons?
Have an old tablet cover to spare?
If yes, this model is for you!
Note: I designed it for my tablet, which is an iPad Pro 11" 2020. But I also make it parametric, so in theory it should work with all iPads and even other brand tablets as long as you have a cover to spare. The only thing you need to take into account is the cover width that involves resizing the center part.
What do you need:
- Spare tablet cover.
- Filament - I recommend PETG-CF
- CA glue - better to use a slower one
How it works:
- Measure your tablet cover width. The prepared model is for iPad Pro 11" 2020. Add a few millimeters to be sure.
- Click Customize. Enter your cover width into the cover_width parameter.
- You may also want to adjust the dimensions of the rails and pins to accommodate your tolerances. It can vary depending on your 3D printer and filament used.
(Optional) Use the slicer's Cut tool to leave only the rail. Print it in vertical orientation and check that the Joy-Con slides well. This will save you time and filament.

Print all model parts.

Glue the halves of the pins together. Let the glue dry. Check how they fit into holes BEFORE proceeding with assembly. You can change their size by 1-2 percent and reprint only them.

Assemble the centerpiece by gluing together two parts with the help of pins.

Glue the centerpiece to the tablet cover. For iPad Pro 11", it should be 6 centimeters from the top to be centered relative to the tablet.

Glue handles to the center piece using more pins.

- Place your tablet inside.
- Attach JoyCons.
- Have fun!
