Description
The detached piece of the base is due to a weakness of Xylo’Thun
Xylo’Thun, Weaver of the Lost Moments
Xylo’Thun is a high-level Time-Manipulation Boss designed for fantasy tabletop RPGs (like D&D or Pathfinder). This model represents a "Chronos-Archon"—an eldritch entity that exists outside the flow of time, weaving past and future into a deadly present.
The Lore
Xylo’Thun is a living sculpture of frozen light and void-matter. He does not move like mortal beings; he glides through reality, leaving "after-images" of his past selves trailing behind. To face him is to fight a ghost that knows your next move before you even think of it.
Xylo’Thun, Weaver of the Lost Moments
Large Construct (Chronos), Neutral Evil
Armor Class: 18 (Natural Armor / Temporal Blur)
Hit Points: 168 (16d10 + 80)
Speed: 30 ft., Fly 30 ft. (hover)
| STR | DEX | CON | INT | WIS | CHA |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 18 (+4) | 22 (+6) | 20 (+5) | 16 (+3) | 18 (+4) | 14 (+2) |
- Skills: Perception +8, Arcana +7, History +11 (He sees the past as clearly as the present).
- Condition Immunities: Charmed, Exhaustion, Frightened, Petrified, Poisoned, Stunned.
- Damage Immunities: Poison, Psychic.
- Senses: Truesight 60 ft., Chronal Awareness (Cannot be surprised), Passive Perception 18.
In-Game Abilities:
- Fractured Strike: Deals 15 (2d8 + 6) force damage.
Effect: The target must succeed on a DC 16 Wisdom saving throw. On a failure, the target's "echo" is ripped from them; they have disadvantage on the next attack roll they make before the end of their next turn.
- Chronal Distortion: Xylo’Thun emits a pulse of distorted time in a 20-foot radius centered on himself.
- Damage: Each creature in that area must make a DC 17 Constitution saving throw, taking 36 (8d8) necrotic damage (representing rapid aging) on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one.
Effect: On a failed save, the creature’s speed is halved until the end of its next turn as they are caught in "slow-motion" time.
- Flicker: When Xylo’Thun is hit by an attack, he can use his reaction to momentarily slip into the future.
- Effect: He adds +4 to his AC against that attack, potentially causing it to miss. If the attack misses, he can teleport up to 15 feet to an unoccupied space he can see.
Legendary Actions
Xylo’Thun can take 3 legendary actions at the end of another creature's turn:
- Shifted Position (1 Action): Moves his full speed without provoking opportunity attacks.
- Accelerated Decay (2 Actions): One creature within 60 ft. must make a DC 16 Con-Save or take 22 (4d10) necrotic damage.
Timeloop (3 Actions): Forces a creature to repeat its last action on its next turn (DC 17 Wis-Save to resist).
Habitat and Treasure:
Habitat: An ancient, clockwork sanctuary
Treasure: Included Unique Loot: The Echoing Shard
The jagged spikes on his back can be looted after his defeat.
- The Item: A one-time-use legendary consumable.
- Effect: A player can crush the shard to rewind the last turn entirely—resetting health, spell slots, and positions. It’s the ultimate "Undo" button for a party in crisis.
💡 DM Inspiration: How to run this Boss
The Weaknesses:
- The Anchor: He draws power from his runic base. Knocking him off or destroying the base disables his Legendary Actions.
- Paradox Overload: He cannot process two conflicting events at the exact same time. If players coordinate their attacks to hit simultaneously, his defenses collapse.
- Mundane Chaos: Use non-magical smoke or debris to bypass his Truesight.
