Description

This project is designed to adapt the Starlink Gen 3 Standard Kit antenna for pole mounting, starting from the standard version that only includes a ground stand.

The official pole mount is available as an optional accessory, but it is relatively expensive. The goal of this project was to create a reliable, versatile, and fully removable alternative, without compromising on mounting quality.

Most existing designs didn’t fully convince me: I don’t like using metal straps, single-screw clamps are, in my opinion, mechanically suboptimal and many designs lack a proper and reliable snap-fit release system.

So I designed this adapter completely from scratch.

Key Features

  • Secure pole mounting using 2× M6 screws at 90°.
  • Embedded M6 nuts (no printed threads).
  • Strong and reliable snap-fit locking system.
  • Easy removal via flat screwdriver access or dedicated release tool.
  • Optimized for support-free printing (main adapter).
  • Designed with anisotropic strength in mind.

---------------------------------

Pole Mounting System

The adapter clamps onto the pole using two M6 screws positioned at 90°, which improves load distribution, prevents deformation and reduces the need for excessive tightening

Instead of printed threads, the design includes internal recesses to house M6 nuts, ensuring better durability and reliability, so extra harware is required:

  • 2× M6 nuts.
  • 2× M6 screws (minimum length 15 mm).
  • or 2× M6 screws minimum lenght 20 mm for the 25 mm pole adapter.

Snap-Fit Locking & Release

The adapter uses two snap-fit arms that lock into the original antenna slots.

Two release methods are available:

1. Manual method

  • Insert two flat screwdrivers into the dedicated slots.
  • Apply leverage twisting the screwdrivers to disengage the clips.

2. Dedicated release tool (recommended)

  • Insert the tool into position.
  • Press with a finger.
  • Both clips disengage simultaneously.
  • Pull out the adapter.

This allows quick, safe, and controlled removal without stressing the parts.

Available Versions

Currently available for:

  • 25 mm poles.
  • 33.5 mm poles.
  • 40 mm poles.
  • 50 mm poles.

Additional sizes may be added in the future.

In many cases, if your pole diameter falls between the available sizes, you can simply use split cylindrical shims/spacers to adapt the fit.

Recommended Materials

PLA is strongly discouraged because it's not suitable for outdoor use and, with the orientation of the part on the print plate, it has poor performance with snap-fit clips.

Recommended:

  • PETG (minimum).
  • ASA / ABS (if experienced).

Note:
Avoid PETG HF (e.g. Bambu), as it has lower mechanical strength compared to standard PETG.

The material should provide good flexibility and strong layer adhesion.

---------------------------------

Print Settings

The print settings are optimized for Bambu Lab A1 Mini, but are compatible with all Bambu printers.

Adapters:

  • 4 perimeters.
  • 20% cubic infill.
  • Reduced speeds (especially outer walls).
  • Outer wall line width: 0.65 mm (for optimal overhangs performance).
  • No supports.

Release lever:

  • Supports enabled.
  • Oriented to maximize strength on the clip tips.

---------------------------------

Print Profile

Made for PETG, it includes 5 print plates:

  • 4 for the adapter variants.
  • 1 for the snap-fit release lever.

All objects are individually optimized.

---------------------------------

Usage Notes

  • Do not overtighten screws, the design works with moderate torque.
  • Ensure proper snap-fit engagement before installation.
  • Use the dedicated tool for easier and safer removal.
