Description

A U-lock… without a key? Exactly!  This fully functional mini U-lock uses a clever threaded design instead of a traditional key mechanism. The U-bar slides into a custom nut body, and a threaded bolt locks everything in place. No keys, no hassle, just twist and secure.

It's weird. It's smart. And it makes people stop and think.

💡 The idea

Not everything needs to be overengineered to be useful. Sometimes, slowing someone down is enough.

This design:

  • Confuses robbers at first glance
  • Takes time to figure out
  • Doesn't behave like a normal lock

That hesitation? That's the whole point.

🚴♂️ Use cases

1. Secondary bike security (disc brake blocker)
Perfect as a supplementary anti-theft deterrent.
Slide it through your disc brake rotor to prevent rolling.

It’s not about being unbreakable, it’s about being annoying, unexpected, and time-wasting!

2. Cyclist keychain accessory
A must-have for anyone deep in the cycling world.
If you know U-locks… you’ll appreciate this.

3. Color-coded key management
If you’re juggling multiple bikes and locks, you already know the pain: “Which key goes with which lock?”

Print this mini lock in matching colors and attach it to your keychain:

  • Orange? That’s your commuter lock
  • Yellow? Road bike
  • Black? Stealth mode!

Simple. Visual. No guessing.

🎨 Style & Stealth

  • Go bright for organization
  • Go all black for maximum confusion 😈

In black, it’s genuinely hard to tell how it even opens.

🧵 Print Notes (Important)

  • Material: PETG recommended (strong + slight flex)
  • Let parts fully cool before removing supports (helps thread fit)
  • Supports are required for clean threading
  • Carefully clean threads (scissors / knife) for smooth operation, including a bit deeper into threads.

Dialed-in threads = satisfying lock/unlock feel.

⚠️ Disclaimer

This is a 3D-printed, keyless plastic lock.

It is not a primary security device.

Use it as:

  • A deterrent
  • A secondary lock
  • A fun, functional accessory

Don’t rely on it alone unless you enjoy taking risks.

🔥

  • Unique mechanism (no keys!)
  • Functional AND collectible
  • Practical + playful
  • Perfect gift for cyclists / makers
