Description

This is a hydroponic tower design, and I am currently growing strawberries and wild strawberries in it. I chose to use a plastic container instead of a 3D-printed one because I already had it lying around, so it was cheaper and easier. I used an Eheim pump 300, and for some parts—such as the pots and the top lid—I used PLA. However, I recommend using PETG for the entire build. I used soil for my timer setup, but with a timer that can run frequent cycles, this isn’t necessary. My current schedule is 15 minutes at 5:00, 15 minutes at 14:00, and 15 minutes at 20:00. This is a bit overkill, but it’s the shortest interval my timer supports. This is still a work in progress—for example, I plan to add the option to turn the pots into small greenhouses using plastic wrap, which is why there are holes at the top of the pots.

Example schedule without soil (frequent watering cycles):

  • 5 minutes ON
  • 10–15 minutes OFF
  • Repeat continuously during the day
  • At night: 5 minutes ON every 30–60 minutes
