Description

A fast printing and simple to use spark plug gap tool

This handy, fast-printing tool is intended for quickly checking spark plug gaps between 0.48mm and 1.6mm. Each step at the circumference increments by 0.08mm, giving you a quick reference to the most common spark gap sizes.

Marks are shown in 100ths of a mm (e.g. 104 = 1.04mm), and 1000ths of an inch (e.g. 19 = 0.019in) This is to allow the text to be as large as possible for clarity.

This tool prints in just 25 minutes (including printer preparation), with less than 5 grams of filament.

Features

  • 15 increments of 0.08mm, 0.48mm to 1.6mm
  • Clear markings in mm/100 and in/1000
  • Fast printing (25 min, 5g filament)
  • Hole to mount on keyring if preferred

Print Settings

  • Arachne wall engine required for markings
  • Solid infill recommended (fixed top + bottom thickness)
  • Layer height 0.08mm, with first layer 0.16mm to guarantee height
  • PLA or PETG - note PETG may string a little more

Colour Choices

For users with AMS or who wish to print in a single colour, just choose the default AMS profile. The second profile has a pause built in just before the coloured markings are added, allowing users without an AMS to still have a different colour for the markings by manually changing filament during the pause.

Usage

  • Put the smallest gap of the tool (0.48mm) in the gap of the spark plug
  • Rotate the tool until the plug gap becomes tight to the tool
  • Read off the measurement from the markings aligned with the section where the plug was tight

Note that the accuracy of the final measurement obviously depends heavily on the accuracy and calibration of your printer. Please ensure your printer is well calibrated before printing. In most cases measurements are accurate to around 0.05mm, which is plenty for the vast majority of spark plugs applications.
