Boost Me (for free)
I’m a hobbyist who loves creating 3D models for everyone to use. If you like what you see, a Boost is greatly appreciated—it directly supports this hobby and helps me bring future projects to life.
This system provides a modular way to organize and display items on a Skadis pegboard. Using a hexagonal geometry, these cubes are designed to tile efficiently, allowing for a honeycomb layout that maximizes available board space.
The collection includes three OpenSCAD files tailored for different needs. The "tiling" versions are specifically calculated to align with the Skadis hole spacing, ensuring that multiple cubes sit flush against one another. The parametric nature of the files allows for adjustments to depth and wall thickness to accommodate various storage requirements.
Key Features
- Geometric Tiling: Small and medium presets are optimized for edge-to- edge alignment on the pegboard grid.
- Integrated Mounts: Designed to fit standard Skadis slots for a secure, easy- to-install display.
- Parametric Design: Customize dimensions for specific collections or tools.
Paramaters Available
- Whether to include a border.
- Border height: how far the border extends from the back of the cube.
- Border width: the thickness of the border.
- Offset: this is used to recude the size of the cube if you prefer more spacing between them.
- Options for horizontal shelves.
File Guide
- medium-tiling-hex.scad: Generates hex cubes sized to tile perfectly next to each other on a standard Skadis board.
- small-tiling-hex.scad: Creates smaller hexagonal bins that also maintain perfect tiling alignment. Useful for compact displays.
- custom-hex.scad: A flexible script for full customization. While it offers the most control over dimensions, tiling is not guaranteed if standard grid parameters are changed.
Printing Guide
- I used wood PLA for my preferred look.
- Bed adhesion is critical, as the printing takes place at 45 degrees. I recommend applying glue or similar to the build plate.
- For best finish I recommend drying your filaments, especially if wood filaments are used.
Note:
Model may comprise small parts that could pose a choking hazard and is therefore not suitable for small children under the age of 3.
