Description
The Faceless Warrior, also known as the King Of Metal, first appeared on Manowar's Kings Of Metal album cover in 1988 and on many Manowar artworks since.
A diorama of one of the most iconic metal album covers of all time. The King of Metal, after treading the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandalled feet, is here to decorate your desk, your shelves, your living room.
I suck at painting, so I printed it with Marble PLA instead. Anyone who paints this, PLEASE post photos of your finished result. I'm dying to see it in color.
Printing tips:
- The sword blade and sheath may oscillate when printing the top layers. I suggest lowering print speed to 50% when reaching that part.
- You need a drop of glue for the belt buckle. Superglue works fine with PLA. The rest of the parts may or may not need glue.
- The head dowel is long enough to help with printing and painting. You can -and should- chop it at least in half length before attaching the head to the body.
- The King of Metal can be printed without the base, as a standalone figure.
- Print time for the diorama base is very long (approximately 12 hours on the A1). In order to save time, you can safely raise printing speed to ludicrous (166%) while printing the bottom part with the rocks, and then lower it to 100% for the flags and poles.
- The crown is a pain to print correctly due to its very thin details. I removed it from the base and included it in a separate plate so that it won't ruin your main print. You can try and print it on its own, until you get it right -or until you give up, whatever comes first.
