Description
Cowduction Wind Spinner started as a simple UFO wind spinner idea… and slowly turned into one of the most fun projects I’ve ever designed. 👽🐄
The project combines a lightweight rotating UFO, a spiral tractor beam effect, and a very unlucky cow being peacefully abducted into the unknown.
As the wind spins the UFO, the beam creates a vortex-like illusion while the suspended cow appears to float inside the tractor beam. The goal was to create something playful, kinetic, and slightly ridiculous while still feeling visually clean and satisfying to watch outdoors.
The rotor system was designed specifically for smooth low wind movement while keeping the UFO form lightweight and balanced.
Printing Notes
- The beam rods MUST be printed in PETG for strength and flexibility.
- Do NOT change the printing orientation of the rods on the build plate. Their orientation is important for durability and changing it may cause them to break.
- Transparent or translucent PETG is highly recommended for the beam effect.
Assembly Notes
- The project uses a modular multi-part design for easier printing and assembly.
- Glue may be optional on some connections depending on your printer tolerances.
- Smooth rotor balance is important for the best spinning performance.
Optional Lighting
An optional LED module can be added for night display and photography effects.
Final Warning
Please be kind to the cow.
It has already been through enough. 🐄👽
