Description

Bring a piece of the Cretaceous era to your desk! This Triceratops Fossil Puzzle is a fun, tactile project that works great as a fidget toy, a kid's activity, or just some cool shelf decor.

I’ve designed this puzzle with two different difficulty levels and piece sizes in mind, giving you a total of 4 different print models to choose from:

  • Model 1: Fine Pieces – Perfect for a slightly higher puzzle challenge.
    • Single Color: A real challenge where you have to rely purely on spatial awareness.
    • Dual-Tone: Features a pre-configured filament change for the last 10 layers, making it much easier to see which side faces up!
  • Model 2: Larger Pieces – Great for younger kids, easier handling.
    • Single Color: Clean, solid look for the ultimate spatial puzzle challenge.
    • Dual-Tone: Includes the automatic filament change for the last 10 layers to give you that easy-mode visual cue.

Tip: The dual-tone models have the "Pause" or "Filament Change" already sliced into the final layers, giving you that clean, professional two-tone finish without any extra effort.

I’ve optimized the settings to ensure the pieces fit smoothly while remaining durable:

  • The Base Frame:
    • Walls: 2
    • Infill: 15% (Grid)
  • The Puzzle Pieces:
    • Walls: 3 (for extra sturdiness when handling)
    • Infill: 10% (Gyroid)

For using the STL-files!

To make it easier to distinguish the top from the bottom, I recommend changing the filament color for the last 5 to 10 layers of the puzzle pieces. This creates a "dual-tone" look that clearly shows which side faces up.
