Description
New to 3D printing here! I recreated this air intake screen for my John Deere Z950R using a partially broken OEM piece as a reference. The original had been damaged for a few years, and replacement options were either unavailable, overpriced, or buried somewhere in Deere’s sacred vault of “call dealer for pricing.” So, I generated my first 3D part from scratch.
- Print cleanly with supports
- Be strong enough for mower vibration and outdoor use
I printed mine in black PETG for better heat and UV resistance, but PLA will probably survive if your mower doesn’t spend its life baking in the sun like a forgotten rotisserie chicken.
Print Recommendations
- Material: PETG recommended
- Layer Height: 0.16 mm
- Walls: 2
- Infill: 15%
- Supports: Tree
- Orientation: Print exactly as uploaded
- Brim: Optional if your bed adhesion is questionable and emotionally unstable
Notes
- Designed from measurements and reconstruction of a damaged OEM part
- Fit tested on a 2017 John Deere Z950R
- Snug snap-fit may vary slightly depending on filament shrinkage and printer calibration
- If fit is tight, lightly sand the tabs instead of forcing it.
- Next step is to design and print cover for the intake guard.
