Upgrade your travel gear with these virtually indestructible, 3D-printed TPU luggage tag straps designed to outlast any airport conveyor belt. Available in both a standard 95 mm and an extended 120 mm diameter, the flat 4 mm wide profile bends effortlessly into a secure lark's head knot without cutting into your tags. Give your bags the heavy-duty, hardware-free security they deserve with a sleek strap that stretches but never snaps.

This is a simple model. But very handy when you need it. It addresses a persistent travel frustration: the inevitable failure of weak commercial plastic ties and metal wire loops that catch, unscrew, or snap during transit. By printing this high-utility strap at home, you gain an on-demand supply of heavy-duty fasteners customized to your needs. Utilizing vibrant, distinct filament colors transforms this structural strap into an immediate visual identifier on a crowded airport baggage carousel, solving both bag security and luggage identification in a single, elegant print.

The version that is 120mm in diameter gives you about 188 mm of length when folded onto itself, or about 7.4 inches. This works well for my large luggage tags. The version that is 95mm in diameter gives you about 150 mm of length when folded onto itself, or about 5.9 inches. This works well for smaller luggage tags.

Recommended Print Settings

  • Wall Loops: 4
  • Outer Wall Line Width: 0.42 mm
  • Inner Wall Line Width: 0.42 mm
  • Layer Height: 0.20 mm
  • Infill Density: 0% (Not required due to wall count)
  • Supports: None
  • Seam Position: Random

This model utilizes exactly 4 wall loops at a 0.42 mm line width to ensure the entire cross-section of the strap is composed entirely of continuous, concentric perimeters. This completely eliminates the need for infill, ensuring maximum tensile strength along the circumference of the band. A random seam position was chosen to distribute layer start points evenly, preventing a localized weak spot or zipper effect, which maximizes structural integrity under heavy loads.

Recommended Filament & Materials

  • Material Type: TPU 95A (Flexible Filament)
  • Hardware Required: None

While rigid plastics like PLA or PETG will snap under tension or crack when bent, a high-quality TPU 95A is explicitly required for this design. The elastomer properties of 95A shore hardness offer the perfect mechanical balance: providing extreme tear resistance to survive rough airport handling, while remaining pliable enough to form tight knots without fatiguing or creating white stress marks.

Assembly & Usage Instructions

  1. Thread one end of the flat TPU loop completely through the eyelet or slot of your luggage tag.
  2. Pass that same end around the handle or strap of your suitcase.
  3. Feed the opposite end of the TPU loop through the first loop, pulling it tight to create a secure Lark's Head Knot (Girth Hitch).
  4. Pull firmly to seat the knot flush against your bag's handle.

This hardware-free fastener is designed with optimized engineering tolerances that exploit the flexible nature of TPU. Because the strap profile is kept to a slim 1.68 mm thickness, it easily accommodates the tight clearance radii required to loop into itself without binding, while the flat 4 mm width safely distributes friction so it will not slice into softer plastic or paper tag eyelets.
