Lesya Ukrainka

Lesya Ukrainka was one of the greatest Ukrainian writers, poets, and public figures. She made an important contribution to Ukrainian literature and culture. Lesya Ukrainka wrote poems, dramas, stories, and translations. Her works praised freedom, strong spirit, love for her homeland, and the struggle for human rights. Some of her most famous works are “Forest Song”, “Cassandra”, “Boyarynya”, and “Ancient Fairy Tale.”

Lesya Ukrainka did a lot for Ukraine:

• she developed Ukrainian language and literature;
• she showed the beauty and strength of Ukrainian culture;
• she supported the idea of freedom for Ukraine;
• she inspired people to be brave and strong;
• she translated world literature into Ukrainian.

Even though she suffered from a serious illness, Lesya Ukrainka continued to work and stayed strong. Her works became a symbol of courage, patriotism, and love for Ukraine. Today, her works are studied in schools, and her name is known around the world.
