Probably the smoothest gear spinner I’ve made so far 😅
- This is a fully print-in-place planetary spinner with 8 moving planet gears and herringbone teeth, so it feels super smooth and satisfying when spinning it. The whole thing prints assembled — no supports, no screws, no glue.
- The outer ring has a nice grip to it, and the center finger hold is really comfortable once it gets spinning.
- I spent way too much time tuning the clearances and chamfers so the gears wouldn’t fuse together while still keeping that dense mechanical feel 🔥
Print Settings
- PLA
- 0.4 nozzle
- 0.16 layer height
- Optimized for Bambu Lab A1
Features
✅ Print-in-place
✅ No supports
✅ Spins right off the bed
✅ Herringbone gears
✅ Super satisfying movement
✅ Tiny mechanical chaos machine ⚙️🌀
75mm diameter / 14mm thick
🔄 Filament Color Changes
For a two-color print, add filament swaps at:
- Layer 23
- Layer 61
That setup gives the spinner a really clean accent separation on the top and bottom surfaces 🎨⚙️
