Sugar Skull Cutout Bookmark
A lightweight, single-color sugar skull-themed cutout bookmark designed for book lovers, skull art fans, gift baskets, reading corners, and quick 3D printed projects. This design features an ornate sugar skull with floral details, swirling decorative vines, a heart accent, and layered folk-art-inspired cutouts, all built into one flat decorative bookmark.
This is part of my growing cutout bookmark series, where each design keeps the same clean bookmark format while changing the theme, artwork, and visual story.
The goal with this model was to make something that feels detailed, bold, and giftable while still being very easy to print. It uses only a small amount of filament, prints quickly, and works great as a quick single-color project. Printing several at once can reduce the average time per bookmark, making it a nice option for gifts, book clubs, classrooms, craft fairs, Halloween bundles, Day of the Dead-inspired displays, or reader-themed collections.

The bookmark is intentionally thin and flexible enough for normal book use while still having enough structure around the cutouts to keep the design sturdy. The openwork skull, floral, heart, and vine cutouts help reduce filament use while giving the bookmark a more decorative, premium look.
Color ideas
This design looks good in simple solid colors, but the sugar skull theme especially works well in:
- Black for a bold skull silhouette look
- White for a clean minimal look
- Gold, silver, bronze, or copper for a decorative giftable version
- Red, purple, orange, pink, or green for a colorful festival-inspired feel
- Silk, sparkle, or textured PLA for a more eye-catching display piece
The photos show a few example colors so you can choose between a clean everyday bookmark or a more display-worthy version.
Notes
The display stand shown in some photos is for presentation unless included separately in the uploaded files. The bookmark itself is designed to print flat and does not require assembly.
This design works well as an everyday bookmark, but it also fits nicely as a small gift for skull art fans, fantasy readers, Halloween displays, Day of the Dead-inspired decor, book clubs, teachers, or anyone who enjoys ornate folk-art-style designs.
