The Glenfinnan Viaduct is located in the western Scottish Highlands and is an important part of the Fort William to Mallaig railway line. Construction of the bridge began in 1897 and took four years to complete. It features a reinforced concrete structure, stands 30 meters high, and has a total length of 381 meters, representing a significant work of late 19th-century railway engineering.

As one of the oldest surviving concrete railway viaducts in the world, its 21-arch continuous curved structure showcases the engineering achievements of the Victorian era. The bridge is famous for being the filming location for the Hogwarts Express in the Harry Potter film series, attracting tourists from around the globe.

The Glenfinnan Viaduct is a renowned feat of Victorian engineering and the longest concrete railway bridge in Scotland. It takes the West Highland Railway over the River Finnan 100ft below, on its journey between Fort William and Mallaig – and is one of the most picturesque train rides in the world. Built in the 1890s by ‘Concrete Bob’ McAlpine, the viaduct’s 21 huge arches were constructed using pioneering technology at the time.
