Description
Modular Cork Embedded Pinboard
Upgrade your workspace, kitchen, or bedroom organization with this sleek, modular wall pinboard! Designed with a fun, interlocking geometric shape, this design forms a perfectly repeating pattern. This means you can print and use as many of them as you like—mixing and matching colors—to build an endlessly expanding, custom bulletin board for your photos, notes, and reminders.
The Magic: Seamlessly Embedded Cork This isn't just a standard frame that you glue cork to later. This model is designed for a seamless, "print-in-place" assembly! The provided print profile is pre-programmed with a pause. When the printer stops, you simply drop your pre-cut cork sheet into the frame, secure it with some glue, and resume the print. The printer will lay down the final layers directly over the edges of the cork, sealing it inside completely for a flush, professional finish.
Features:
- Endlessly Modular: The repeating geometric pattern means you can nest together as many of these as you want, expanding your pinboard space in any direction.
- Seamless Edges: The print-over-cork method hides all rough cut lines.
- Easy Mounting: Designed to be easily and securely mounted to your wall using regular 4cm screws.
How to Make It:
- Print the Cutting Frame: First, print the provided cutting frame file to use as your template.
- Cut the Cork: Place the printed cutting frame onto your cork sheet. Using a craft knife, carefully trace and cut the cork along the outer edge of the frame.
- Start Printing the Pinboard: Send the main pinboard file to your printer. It will automatically pause right before the top lip begins to print.
- Insert & Glue: Apply some glue to the inside base of the print and press your custom-cut cork sheet firmly into place so it sits flat.
- Resume & Seal: Resume the print. The printer will extrude the final layers over the edge of the cork, permanently sealing it in!
- Mount: Fasten to your wall with 4cm screws, add more modules if you like, and start pinning!
Printer Compatibility & Requirements
Please note that due to the dimensions of this model, it is only printable on a 256x256 mm bed. Supported Printers: Bambu Lab X1-Carbon, X1E, P1S, P1P, and A1.
Minor Issues & Printing Tips
While this prints beautifully, there are a few minor things to be aware of:
- Slight Warping Risk: Because this model takes up a large surface area on the bed, there is a small risk of corner warping. A freshly washed and completely clean build plate is highly recommended to ensure maximum adhesion!
- Horizontal Layer Line (Pause): You might notice a faint horizontal line on the outer perimeter of the frame right at the height where the print was paused. This is a normal artifact caused by the prolonged layer time while the print was paused for the cork insertion.
- Horizontal Layer Line (Infill Transition): There is another faint horizontal line lower down on the frame. This occurs when the printer transitions from printing the sparse infill to the large, solid top layer where the cork sits. While I couldn't completely eliminate this artifact in the slicer, both of these lines are minimal and barely noticeable once the board is mounted on the wall.
