Description

Why I designed this tool

While building my Pilot-RC F-16 (1:5 scale), I ran into the same issue many owners have experienced: the supplied 3 mm plywood CG tool is simply not strong enough for a jet weighing around 24 kg (53 lbs).

In my case, the original tool cracked after only a few seconds under load.

To solve this, I designed a robust and easy-to-use 3D printable CG balance tool that allows quick and repeatable center of gravity checks.

Features

✔ Designed specifically for the Pilot-RC F-16 1:5
✔ Supports CG positions at 270 mm, 275 mm and 280 mm
✔ Much stronger than the original plywood solution
✔ Fast and repeatable balancing process
✔ Ideal for workshop and field use

Tested Materials

The design has been successfully tested in both PETG and PETG-CF.

Standard PETG already provides excellent strength, while PETG-CF offers even greater stiffness and durability.

Printing Recommendations

  • Material: PETG or PETG-CF
  • Layer Height: 0.20 mm strength
  • Walls: 4
  • Infill: 25–35%
  • Supports: Not required

Notes

This tool was designed around the Pilot-RC F-16 in 1:5 scale. Please verify the fit and support points on your own model before use.

I hope it helps make CG checks quicker, safer and more accurate.

Happy flying!
