Claim your personal oasis and leave the chair-saving guesswork behind. This sleek, spring-loaded clip firmly anchors your towel while clearly broadcasting that your spot is officially taken. Whether you're cooling off in the pool or grabbing another round, sleep easy knowing your favorite lounge chair is securely reserved.
This heavy-duty beach towel and patio chair clamp features a unique snap-in spring design that provides a professional-grade grip and incredible durability for deck chairs, loungers, or patio setups.
This is a large clip, measuring about 116 mm (4 ½ inches) long and 63 mm (2 ½ inches) wide. It has many potential uses: clothes pin, chip clip, utility clip, utility clamp, etc. But it was intended for beach towels, or pool towels.
Recommended Print Settings
- Layer Height: 0.2 mm
- Wall Loops: 4 perimeters (Main Clip), 6 perimeters (Spring)
- Top/Bottom Shells: 8 layers
- Infill: 15% Cubic
- Orientation: Print on side (edge)
- Supports: Required (Manual or Auto-tree)
- Support Interface: PLA (if printing clip body in PETG)
Printing on the side ensures that mechanical tension acts perpendicular to the layer lines, preventing the clip from splitting along the print grain under load. Four wall loops provide the necessary structural mass for the integrated print-in-place hinge, while upgrading the spring component to six wall loops maximizes its tensile strength and counteracts high-tension force during deployment.
Recommended Filament & Materials
- Clip Body Material: PETG or PLA
- Spring Material: PETG (Strictly Required)
- Support Interface: PLA (for clean support removal)
- Hardware Required: None (100% 3D Printed)
While the large clip body prints cleanly in PLA, the removable spring component strictly requires PETG. PETG’s superior fatigue resistance and elasticity allow the spring to flex and repeatedly return to its original shape without undergoing plastic deformation (creep), ensuring the clamp retains its high-tension bite over hundreds of uses.
The print profile is setup for TWO material types, PETG and PLA. I strongly discourage ignoring that recommendation. If you simply print it all with PLA, the spring won't flex properly. If you print it all with the same filament type, the supports will be difficult or impossible to remove.
If you don't want to use both PETG and PLA (a bad idea), you should at least open the print profile in Bambu Studio, and manually adjust the support settings. In the print profile that I am providing, the supports are designed to use a different material for the support interface.
Assembly & Usage Instructions
- Remove Supports: Carefully clear support material from the hinge gap and the interior handle cavity.
- Verify Hinge: Ensure the print-in-place hinge moves freely.
- Insert Spring: Slide the spring into the back of the clip (between the handles) until it snaps firmly into the designated grooves.
- Attach Panel: The “Taken” panel slides onto one face of the clip using a dovetail. It should fit snugly, and should not move around freely. If you find it is too loose, a dab or two of glue won't hurt. Just make sure you don't get glue in the hinge or spring area.
The internal geometry utilizes a tight-tolerance snap-fit to guarantee that the spring remains permanently locked under high mechanical stress. Precisely engineered clearances within the print-in-place hinge ensure smooth, immediate articulation while maintaining a robust, wobble-free joint structure.
